What Is the Bali Tourist Tax?
The Bali tourist levy is a mandatory fee of $10 USD that all international visitors must pay before entering Bali, Indonesia. This levy was introduced to support sustainable tourism development and environmental conservation on the island.
Who Needs to Pay?
All foreign nationals visiting Bali are required to pay the tourist levy. This includes:
- Tourists visiting for leisure
- Business travelers
- Transit passengers staying overnight
- Visitors arriving by air or sea
Indonesian citizens and holders of diplomatic passports are exempt.
How to Pay
You can pay the Bali tourist levy through the official Love Bali platform or through authorized services like Vistumo. Payment can be made online before your trip, which is strongly recommended to avoid delays at immigration.
After payment, you will receive a QR code that must be presented upon arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Payment Methods
- Credit/Debit card (Visa, Mastercard)
- Digital wallets
- Bank transfer
When to Pay
We recommend paying at least 48 hours before your flight to ensure your QR code is processed and ready. While same-day payments are possible, processing delays can occur during peak travel seasons.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Using unofficial websites — Many scam sites charge inflated fees or fail to process payments
- Forgetting to save your QR code — Download it to your phone and keep a screenshot
- Waiting until arrival — On-site payment lines can be long and stressful
- Not checking validity dates — The levy is tied to your travel dates
Tips for a Smooth Experience
- Pay online before you travel using a trusted service
- Save your QR code in multiple places (email, photos, cloud storage)
- Check that your name matches your passport exactly
- Keep your payment confirmation email for your records
